Reason for Income Tax Notice

There are several reasons why you might receive an income tax notice, including:

  • Discrepancies in Tax Returns: Notices can be issued if there are inconsistencies between the income declared, deductions claimed, and the information available with the Income Tax Department.
  • Non-Filing of Tax Returns: If a taxpayer fails to file their income tax return by the due date, the department may issue a reminder notice prompting them to file.
